THE date for Glasgow's Christmas Light Switch On event has been revealed.
The annual event takes place on George Square each year marking the beginning of the festive celebrations in the city.
At the Merchant City and Trongate Community Council meeting on Tuesday, September 24, it was revealed that Glasgow Life has submitted a licensing request to Glasgow City Council for this year's event on Sunday, November 17.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Life confirmed it will take place on this date.
The application for the switch-on, which would take place from 4pm to 8pm, says there will be a main stage, live and recorded music, live performance, big screens, catering units and merchandise units.
The switch-on, from Glasgow Loves Christmas, is free to attend but there is a ballot that residents must apply to in order to get tickets.

It has not yet been revealed when this year's ballot will go live but the spokesperson said details will be announced soon.
In 2023, around 10,600 ticket holders gathered in George Square on Sunday, November 19 to see the lights switch on at 7pm.
Last year, there were no fireworks at the ceremony for the first time as Glasgow Life said they wanted to focus on live performances and the switch on itself.
They confirmed there will also be no fireworks at this year's event.
In 2023 the event, was hosted by Clyde 1's George Bowie and Cassi Gillespie, with popstar Michelle McManus performing her new Christmas single.
There were also performances from Ariana Grande tribute Simply Ariana, country singer-songwriter Kevin McGuire, Scottish Ballet, pantomime Treasure Island cast members, Soul Nation choir and Scottish TikTok star Nati Dreddd.
A spokesperson for Glasgow Life said: "Glasgow’s Christmas lights switch-on, which symbolises the countdown to Christmas for many in the city, will take place on Sunday, November 17.
"We look forward to announcing further information, including details of how to enter the switch-on ticket ballot, shortly on our website and social media channels."
