A woman attacked a busker and two passers-by on a Glasgow street with a metal pole.

A man was busking on Buchanan Street near Starbucks at 8.30pm on July 30.

Melissa Stanulis approached him and they started talking. She became aggressive.

The 20-year-old punched and kicked the musician then picked up a black box and struck him with it.

The box fell to the ground. The Paisley woman grabbed a metal pole and hit the man with it.

She also approached another passer-by and beat him with the same weapon.

A woman passing by recorded the incident on her phone. When Stanulis noticed, she went up to her and struck her head with the pole as well.

Finally, two men intervened and police were called.

They arrived at the city centre and arrested Stanulis.

She appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week after she pleaded guilty to three charges of assault and two charges of having an offensive weapon in her possession - the box and the pole.

Her lawyer told the court: "She had a very difficult life. She has been estranged from her family since she was 15 and has been through the homeless system.

"She developed an addiction to alcohol.

"[During the offence], she was under the influence. Earlier on she had been at a homeless accommodation, binge drinking.

"She is genuinely remorseful. She is relieved there were no serious injuries caused."

The solicitor also explained that Stanulis now has stable accommodation.

He continued: "She has abstained from alcohol. She recently started a college course."

Sheriff Collette Gallagher told Stanulis: "It’s very clear that you made significant progress.

"It’s rare that I read a report as positive as this. I hope your college is going well and you are making friends."

She was sentenced to 140 hours of unpaid work, to be completed in six months.
