Residents of Newton in Cambuslang have been asked to take part in a consultation on proposed new pharmacy.

The consultation will ask locals if there is currently adequate access to pharmacy services in the area.

Thistle Chem Ltd, plan to apply to NHS Lanarkshire to open the new pharmacy offering the full range of services at the proposed Newton Retail Development, beside Westburn Road and Grayline Avenue.

Before an application can be made, regulations require that NHS Lanarkshire and Thistle Chem Ltd carry out a joint consultation to seek the views of local people and gauge the level of support for the proposal.

Gillian Forsyth from NHS Lanarkshire said: “This is only a proposal; however, we would like to gauge how people feel about it and the survey will help us capture this.

“For example, people will be able to record whether they feel they already have adequate access to NHS pharmacy services in the area or whether they feel there are gaps or deficiencies in service to the neighbourhood.”

The joint consultation will run until 4 February 2025 and can be found at:https://www.nhslanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk/get-involved/consult-engage/pharmacy-consultation-unit-8-proposed-newton-retail-development-westburn-road-grayline-avenue-newton/.
