Holiday apartments in Glasgow have been granted licences as a meeting heard homeless people had been in the building and erected a tent in a car park.

A community council objected to a bid for short term let licence applications for a number of flats at 120 Ingram Street.

Concerns were expressed about rubbish being generated and left lying about, graffiti appearing and over concentration of short term lets.

A representative from Dreamhouse 2000, which manages the apartments on behalf of landlords, refuted the concerns expressed in objections.

When asked about graffiti in the building, she said homeless people had managed to get access to the building about a year ago.

Speaking at today’s licensing and regulatory committee, she said: “They had a tent in the car park downstairs.”

She explained having a feeling the graffiti may have been done by the unauthorised visitors and not residents of the short stay apartments.

Commenting on the upkeep of the building, the representative pointed out they supplied cleaners and complied with health and safety requirements and a duty manager was on call 24 hours a day.

She said: “The relationship we have with the majority of owner occupiers is very good.”

Pointing out the agency manages only seven out of the 45 flats, she added: “We can’t possibly be blamed for everything that goes wrong in the building.”

Objections were lodged by Merchant City & Trongate Community Council and Gary Atkinson.

The committee approved the six short term let licences applied for by Dreamhouse 2000.
