A construction firm has raised more than £5,400 for a cancer charity after scaling Ben Arthur in Arrochar.

The JR Group, founded in Govan and now based in Paisley, smashed their initial target of £1,000 for the Beatson Cancer Charity.

Ten staff members took on the 884-metre-tall mountain located near Loch Long in Argyll and Bute.

Gayle O’Hear, construction administration manager at The JR Group, said: "We’re incredibly proud of the team for getting involved in this charity climb and supporting a vital local charity which supports so many Scots navigating a cancer diagnosis.

"We have lots of members of staff who enjoy walking and hiking in our spare time so we decided to come together to turn our hobby into an opportunity to raise funds for The Beatson Cancer Charity.

"I’d like to thank all the team, colleagues, family, friends, suppliers, sub-contractors and partners for their incredibly generous donations and for helping us raise such a fantastic amount.

"We hope it helps the charity continue its work."

The JR Group was founded in 1995 and now employs around 200 staff.
