Addressing Bailey, Sheriff Mark McGuire said: “This was a serious offence. You were considerably intoxicated and the woman showed concern for you.
“You told of your attraction for her but she wasn’t interested. She tried to lose you in the crowd but you persisted.
“You followed her, accosted her, and tried to kiss her. She was distraught and assisted by members of the public.
“You were so intoxicated you have no memory of the incident but the victim doesn’t have that luxury.
“Your sexual assault on her will be with her for a long time.”
Sheriff McGuire placed Bailey on a community payback order with social work supervision for 12 months and a conduct requirement to attend alcohol treatment.
He was also ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work and is now subject to notification requirements for 12 months.
