A Glasgow designer has revealed his new collection for his sold out show.

David Black, from the East End, is debuting Dr Black’s Monster which will showcase his latest sustainable fashion pieces.

The 34-year-old focuses his brand House of Blackon bringing discarded materials back to life through upcycling which he deems his "Frankenstein creation method".

He hosted a sold-out catwalk show for the looks on Friday at Glasgow's Corinthian Club and spoke to the Glasgow Times before the event.

David said: “You don’t have to sacrifice style for sustainability so that's what this collection is all about.

“The project is called Dr Black’s Monster, my models will show off my latest experiments that I made using my Frankenstein creation method.

“I take damaged and unwanted clothes and make something with leftover interesting results.

“Sustainability is so important to me and a big goal of mine is to make fashion fun, while also being good for the environment.

“I find it is easier to engage and encourage people to do better for the planet in a fun visual way, it gets their attention much better that shouting facts at them.

“I have been working on it for about five months so I am excited to finally show it off.”

We previously reported how David grew up struggling to afford new materials to create his pieces, so he relied on using old damaged clothes which he could upcycle and revamp.

This inspired him to launch House Of Black which saves scraps and clothes from charity shops to promote zero waste.

Now his latest collection is focusing on experimenting with colour, shapes, and style.

David said: “I am the least gothic person you could ever meet, but for this collection I wanted to dip my toes into a darker colour palette.

“The collection has a lot of black and olive greens, but also metallics which I really enjoyed using.

“There are some surprises in the collection, there's even some sleeves and collars where you might not normally find them.

“I like to find new ways to be sustainable and with zero waste, it challenges me to come up with different ways to recycle.

“Lots of the pieces are wearable but some are more avant garde fun looks.

“I feel really excited about it, I am proud of it because it is a cool collection, there is something for everyone in there."
