A TEENAGE driver put two people in hospital after a horror car crash.

Abderahmene Naimi, then 19, collided head-on with Amanda Smith's vehicle in Scotstounhill on January 28, 2022.

Naimi, now 21, failed to see the 56-year-old's car while he overtook a bus on a road with a blind summit ahead of it.

The crash caused extensive damage to both vehicles and landed Miss Smith as well as Naimi's passenger Mohammed Abrar in hospital.

Miss Smith suffered bruising to her abdomen and a large haematoma.

Mr Abrar meantime sustained a knee fracture as well as tissue damage to his shoulder and back.

Naimi pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to causing serious injury and injury by dangerous driving.

He also admitted a separate charge of driving without insurance.

The court heard that Naimi - who was behind the wheel of a Peugeot 208 - was travelling near Queen Victoria Drive around midnight with three passengers in his vehicle.

Miss Smith was going in the opposite direction towards a blind summit on the road.

Prosecutor Danielle McGuinness said: "Whilst within the area of solid white lines, which are visible and last for approximately 40 metres, Naimi has crossed onto the wrong side of the road whilst overtaking a First bus which was in front of him.

"This has given him no view over the summit.

"As Naimi reached the blind summit on the wrong side of the road, he struck Miss Smith's vehicle head-on, causing extensive damage to both vehicles."

The road was closed for several hours while all five from both cars were taken to hospital.

Miss Smith was discharged after four days having suffered the abdomen bruising and haematoma.
