A WOMAN is set to honour the memory of her dad with a "special" Hallowe'en display.

Sandra Myles has been styling out her family home and garden in Drumchapel to mark the celebration for several years.

However, this time around, the display will have extra significance after her beloved father Gordon passed away back in March.

The 77-year-old was diagnosed with sepsis in April 2023 which led to several complications before he died.

Sandra opened up about the close relationship the two shared.

(Image: Sandra Myles) She said: "It was my dad who started these displays many years ago, albeit on a smaller scale, and it has grown into a family tradition from there.

"I try to make things bigger every year, but this time in particular I want to do something special for my dad.

"We were really close. I nursed him through the many ailments he had at the end of his life.

"I was a full-time carer for both my parents for many years, and I still look after my mum who is paralysed from the neck down."

Sandra is keen to use the display as a way to raise funds for charity Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.

"I had a collection for them at my dad's funeral and from there I learned more about the work they do.

"They help people who have had issues exactly like my mum and dad so I am keen to raise funds for them.

"I do not want people to feel they are under any obligation to donate when they come to the display.

"I completely understand that times are tough for everyone. If you can donate, great, if not, then that is fine. Anything is appreciated."

Last year's display took 10 days to put together, with Sandra receiving help from her neighbours.

People travelled from as far as Livingston to see the decorations on October 30 and 31.

The 43-year-old is hoping to put on an even better show this time around.

She said: "My 2023 display was the biggest to date and we had well over 1000 people walking through the garden.

"Last time we had visits from kids from the local nurseries as well as service users from Antonine Court as the garden is wheelchair accessible.

"It will be a closed gate until Hallowe'en but I will start setting the display up from Monday, October 28 if people want to come and take photos from the outside.

"The event will be running from 4.30pm until 8.30pm on Hallowe'en."
