CONCERNS have been raised after a sinkhole opened on a residential street in Glasgow.
A cordon has now been set up around the affected site on Carolside Drive in Drumchapel after it reportedly formed earlier this month.
Councillor Paul Carey, who represents the Anniesland and Drumchapel ward, explained he is “really concerned” over the news.
He said: “I have asked officers to investigate this as a priority and report back to me. I understand people’s anxiety after the previous sinkhole on Kinfauns Drive.
“That job was only supposed to last for three months but turned out to be nearly two years and the road was closed off.
“That work cost approximately over £1 million.”

Glasgow City Council (GCC) confirmed short-term measures have been put in place on Carolside Drive to protect the public.
It is understood that the cause of the sinkhole will be investigated and action to repair it will be taken in due course.
A GCC spokesperson said: “This fault was identified during a routine inspection and appropriate traffic management measures have been put in place in the short term to protect public safety.
“The cause of the fault will be properly investigated and action will be taken to ensure the road is repaired as soon as possible.
“This will involve either filling in and resurfacing the carriageway ourselves or liaising with the owner of the infrastructure that is the source of the fault to ensure the necessary repairs are undertaken by them.”
The latest sinkhole comes four years after a larger one opened outside of the West Centre on Kinfauns Drive.
Extensive emergency works, carried out by Scottish Water, were ongoing for nearly two years and cost more than £1 million to complete.
It is understood that this is due to repair teams being faced with ‘extremely challenging’ ground conditions as well as uncharted services, employing specialist contractors, and the covid pandemic.
