THREE suspects will stand trial accused of a murder bid on a shopkeeper in an alleged shooting.

Liam McDonald, 35, Dylan Haldane, 36, and Scott Troy, 41, are claimed to have assaulted Mohammed Arif in Glasgow's Pollok on August 13, 2023.

The trio are stated to have acted with others, with their faces partially masked, when they are said to have pursued Mr Arif.

(Image: Newsquest) Court papers claim they repeatedly struck him on the body with a machete as well as a knife.

It is further stated the men repeatedly discharged a firearm at his body all to Mr Arif's severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger of life and attempted murder.

The charge claims that McDonald and Haldane had previous evince malice and ill will towards Mr Arif.

It is further stated that the alleged offence is aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime.

Another charge claims that the trio removed their clothing during the commission of the alleged offence.

It is stated that they put the clothing and weapons used in a bin and then doused them with accelerant in an attempt to set fire to them.

Haldane is further alleged to have booked into the city's Number 10 Hotel for the purpose of washing his body to remove evidence.

The trio are accused of another charge of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause Adnan Arif to believe that unlawful violence would be used against him.

McDonald and Haldane face a further charge of being concerned in the supply of cannabis between June and August 2023.

All three pleaded not guilty today at the High Court in Glasgow to the charges against them at a virtual hearing.

The 10-day trial will be prosecuted by John McElroy KC, while Thomas Ross KC will represent McDonald.

Donald Findlay KC will appear for Haldane while Tony Lenehan KC will represent Troy.

A trial was set for October next year by Judge Lord Armstrong.
