A building that was destroyed in a fire is to be rebuilt after plans were given the green light.
The convenience store and takeaway at 2135 and 2141 Great Western Road burned down in February 2023.
Now, planning chiefs at Glasgow City Council (GCC) have approved plans, lodged by Clydebank Co-operative Society, to reinstate the building subject to several conditions.
These include covering the front and side sections of the roof with natural slate, the roof ridge matching that of the adjoining building, having a stonemason report carried out to look at the possibility of restoring the stone urns that were salvaged from the previous building, and more.

The news has been welcomed by Knightswood Community Council.
Speaking at a meeting of the group on Wednesday Alan Morrison said: “They [Co-op] had originally put in a planning application earlier this year which we objected to as it didn’t tie in with the existing building.
“The Co-op has since put in amended plans which have taken into account our comments. The updated plans look a lot better.
“I’m delighted with that and I’m looking forward to getting our shop back. There will be a fast food takeaway next door as well.
“Hopefully that comes to pass soon.”

The previous building was demolished after a fire broke out at the takeaway (Freddie’s Food Club).
Firefighters remained at the scene for more than eight hours and a police cordon was in place on Great Western Road for nearly ten hours.
The takeaway’s roof was completely destroyed in the fire and there appeared to have been damage to the neighbouring Keystore’s roof.
No one was injured during the incident.
