A Glasgow bridge has been closed amid Storm Ashley.

The Govan-Partick footbridge will remain shut today (October 20) due to forecasted "strong winds".

The Riverside Museum warned visitors of the closure in a post on Facebook.

It reads: "If you are coming by Subway today, alight at Partick station. The Govan-Partick Bridge is closed all day due to high winds."

It is understood that the crossing will remain closed until 6am on Monday.

A post on the Govan-Partick Bridge Facebook page states: "In order to permit passage of PS Waverley the bridge will now be closed to pedestrian/cycle traffic from 6am on Sunday, October 20.

"Due to the forecast high winds, the bridge will remain closed until 6am on Monday, October 21, 2024."

It comes as a yellow weather warning for 'strong winds' is in force across the city.

The warning will be in place from 3am to midnight.

The Met Office is warning that Storm Ashley could cause "disruption".
