FANS of Liam Payne have gathered in Glasgow to pay tribute to the former One Direction star following his death.

The 31-year-old pop star died on October 16 after falling from a balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

On Sunday, a crowd gathered in George Square to remember Liam after his passing.

Pictures posted on social media show flowers and cards with emotional messages from fans set up on a bench alongside a balloon that read ‘Forever Young’.

Earlier this week, Instagram account HS News, a fan account for Harry Styles, shared a post stating that the memorial would be held at the Sir Walter Scott Monument at around 2pm.

The post read: “If there are any Liam Payne fans in and around Glasgow some of us are going to meet up at 2pm on Sunday, October 20 at the Sir Walter Scott Monument in George Square to remember him.

“We are unable to travel to the Manchester/London memorials but would still like to show our love.

"You can wear red, merchandise, bring flowers, letters, anything you feel is right to remember Liam by.

“Everyone is welcome.”

Liam rose to fame as one-fifth of the boyband One Direction who were formed on the 2010 series of X Factor.

The group went on to become one of the best-selling boybands of all time before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Payne, who was born in Wolverhampton, later released his debut solo album titled ‘LP1’ in December 2019.

It included songs such as Polaroid, Familiar, and Strip That Down featuring Quavo.
