PEOPLE are being asked to nominate their sporting heroes for North Lanarkshire Council's sporting hall of fame.

The facility, which is inside Ravenscraig's Regional Sports Facility, currently celebrates 29 sporting legends.

This includes the likes of the Lisbon Lions, John Higgins, Louise and Kimberley Renicks, and Sir Matt Busby.

After a few years' break, the council is now calling for fresh nominations, with successful contenders to be announced next year.

"Now, after a break of a few years, we're asking for people to let us know who their local sporting heroes are and help shine a light on the incredible stories that inspire us all.

"The initiative is a great way of honouring North Lanarkshire's rich sporting heritage and encouraging future generations to chase their dreams.

Nominations should be sent in by December 12 (Image: Jacqui Bradley) "We're looking for individuals from all sporting backgrounds who have either competed at the highest level – nationally or internationally - or contributed significantly to their sport, whether in a coaching, leadership, or support role."

To nominate your sporting hero, you will need to submit a brief description of their achievements and explain why you believe they should be inducted into the hall of fame.

All nominations should be sent to sporthof@northlan.gov.uk by Thursday, December 12.
