Essential works will be carried out on the M8 and M898 this week.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking resurfacing work on the M8 westbound and M898 (Erskine Bridge) on-slip from Thursday, October 24 to Monday, October 28.
The roadworks will be undertaken in three phases.
Phase One will take place from Thursday, October 24 to Friday, October 25.
Maintenance will take place each night between 8pm and 6am.
The M8 westbound from Junction 30 to the Ferry Road overbridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The M898 southbound to M8 westbound on-slip will be closed.
Traffic from the M898 on-slip will be diverted via the M8 eastbound and directed to the exit at Junction 29. The diversion will then follow the A737 to Linwood and the A761 through Kilmacolm to join the A8 at Newark Roundabout in Port Glasgow.
Phase Two will take place from Friday, October 25 to Monday, October 28.
Maintenance will again take place each night between 8pm and 6am.
The following slip roads will be closed at this time:
- Junction 29 westbound on-slip
- Junction 29A westbound off-slip
- Junction 30 westbound off-slip to the M898
- Junction 30 westbound M8989-M8 on-slip
Full closure of the M8 westbound between junction 29 and 31 will take place from 10pm.
There will also be lane closures from the M898 southbound to the M8 westbound on-slip and the M8 Junction 30 eastbound on-slip.
The M8 Junction 30 to Ferry Road overbridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The same diversion will be in place as phase one and M8 westbound traffic will be directed off at the Junction 28A exit to follow this diversion.
Phase Three will be in place from 6am on Saturday, October 26 to 10pm Sunday, October 27.
A contraflow will be in place on the M8 westbound at Junction 30 where the M8 will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The M898 to M8 westbound on-slip road at Junction 30 will be closed.
Traffic will be directed to join the eastbound M8 and turn at Junction 29 to join the westbound M8 and travel through the contraflow.
Access to emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
