A much-loved Glasgow restaurant is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Stravaigin, in Gibson Street, has announced a weekend of special events from October 25 to 27 to mark the occasion.

The West End venue, which opened in 1994, has been delighting customers with its menu of imaginative dishes, crafted from the best of Scottish produce, for three decades.

The restaurant also boasts a lively bar, complete with an ever-evolving wine list, craft ales, and a variety of cocktails.

Stravaigin's enduring popularity is also attributed to its team of award-winning staff, led by Olivia Wong, Scotland’s Bar Manager of the Year.

In honour of the 30th anniversary, three long-serving members of the team have each selected their favourite throwback dish to feature on a limited edition menu.

The dishes include smoked Loch Melfort sea trout with Caesar salad and pine nuts, slow roast duck leg with tabbouleh, feta, and pomegranate, and dark chocolate crèmeux with charred pineapple salsa and honey.

The anniversary celebrations will also see Stravaigin welcome The Sassenach as its prestigious Scotch whisky partner for the weekend.

Patrons who purchase a serve of The Sassenach on October 27 will receive a complimentary dish of Stravaigin’s popular Wee Haggis with whisky sauce.

To conclude the anniversary celebration, 30 spot prizes will be randomly awarded to patrons who visit Stravaigin on October 26 between 12pm and 1am.

These prizes include gift cards, complimentary meals, and Stravaigin’s stylish tote bags filled with Scottish-themed goodies.

General manager Olivia Wong said: "Stravaigin is a Glasgow institution and held in great affection by many people.

"It really is the heart of the Gibson Street and wider West End community.

"Thirty years is an impressive anniversary but our ethos of delicious food and drink, a warm and friendly atmosphere, a team who love Strav as much as our patrons, and of course great craic, is as good an excuse as any to celebrate.

Sam Heughan with The Sassenach (Image: Supplied) "We are particularly thrilled to welcome The Sassenach into this weekend’s celebrations.

"We are all big fans of Sam and his Scotch whisky here at Stravaigin and know excitement levels will be running high ahead of it becoming a permanent addition to our drinks menu.

"The entire team are delighted to be a small part of Stravaigin’s ongoing legacy and we very much hope faces old and new will ‘wander aimlessly with intent’ and join us across the weekend as we toast 30 years."

With a recent AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence under its belt, Stravaigin is urging the public to book a table to avoid disappointment.
