A Glasgow food bank is bracing for a higher demand as families prioritise presents this Christmas.
Glasgow North East Foodbank is expecting to see more people come to their service over winter as they try to make sure their children don’t miss out.
Manager Daniele Cardoso, 44, is concerned about their donation levels as they are currently giving away double the amount of stock they are bringing in.
Now she is expecting even more people to rely on them over the festive season but doesn’t “judge or blame” them for trying to provide Christmas at home.

Food bank manager Daniele told us: “We have people come in crying every week, we try to reassure them that everyone needs help sometimes and there is no shame in coming to us.
“It can be hard to see but we really want to help people, it isn’t their fault prices are crazy night now.
“Our demand has increased because of this so we are actually giving away double the amount of donations we are getting in.
“We are expecting even more people in at Christmas because people will prioritise getting their little children gifts, which I don’t judge them for.
“If anyone could please help and donate to us we would really appreciate it and be so happy, it makes a very big difference.”

The Glasgow Times is launching our vital Bank on Us campaign for the sixth year in a row to help places like the Glasgow North East Foodbank.
We are encouraging our readers to get involved in a food drive to stop those who need the most from going hungry this Christmas.
By speaking to food bank volunteers on the front lines of the cost-of-living crisis we hope to share why donations are so important.
Our papers will also feature free bags in the coming week which can be filled up by those with anything to spare and donated to food banks relying on help.
Household bills have skyrocketed leaving thousands of families struggling to heat their homes and put food on the table.
We hope this campaign will help to lift the pressure from those on the breadline this winter.
As well as the food drive, the Glasgow Times will be raising money for our Bank on Us toy drive via GoFundMe.
The campaign hopes to deliver thousands of gifts to our most vulnerable children this Christmas.
We are hoping for our readers, nurseries, schools, and businesses to get behind the campaign by donating.
All proceeds will be used to purchase toys which will be distributed to charities around the city to be handed out to parents and put under the tree.
If you are also able to fill up a bag for Glasgow North East Foodbank, they have asked if you could consider contributing the following items: gravy granules and condiments, a small christmas pudding, shortbread, family pack of biscuits, and treats such as chocolates or sweets.
At the time of publishing this is the correct donation drop off information for the food bank:
Calton Parkhead Parish Church, 142 Helenvale St, G31 4NA on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9-1pm.
Two Asda stores can also be used as drop off spots with customers able to place the donations in the special baskets provided for the Foodbank.
These shops are the Glasgow Parkhead Forge Superstore branch and and the Robroyston Superstore.
Food bank staff collect these every Monday morning.
