Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity is expanding its support network for families of children undergoing treatment.
The charity group will offer enhanced support and resources at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, thanks to substantial funding from Alison and Steve Timoney.
The cash injection will allow Crossbasket House to provide on-site accommodation and wraparound support services, including emotional, financial, and practical support.
Since 2001, the charity has invested more than £45 million in support services and improvements at the Royal Hospital for Children and its related maternity, neonatal, and paediatric facilities across the West of Scotland.
Kirsten Watson, chief executive officer of the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, said: "Many families with critically ill children travel from remote parts of Scotland, facing weeks or months of uncertainty in the hospital.
"Crossbasket House will be a lifeline for countless parents and caregivers in the years to come.
"We are truly grateful to Alison and Steve Timoney for their remarkable donation and unwavering commitment to our children and their families."
Alison and Steve Timoney added: "As longstanding supporters of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity we are passionate about supporting children and families who are cared for at the children's hospital in Glasgow.
"When a child is ill, families need to be embraced and supported and they need time, space and facilities to support their hospital journey, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
"We are very proud to be supporting Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity as it expands its resources to support even more hospital families."
Dr Ken Simpson MBE, chief operating officer of Crossbasket House, said: "Here at Crossbasket House we provide free accommodation and together with Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital Charity we are now able to provide emotional, financial and practical support to parents and carers as and when they need us.”
