A new play park has been installed by a council.

East Dunbartonshire Council has opened the new play park at Luggie Park in Kirkintilloch.

The new park, which cost £110,000 to construct, was funded by the Scottish Government’s Renewing Scotland’s Play Park Funding and East Dunbartonshire Council Capital Funding.

Councillor Marshall, vice convener of the place, neighbourhood and corporate assets committee, said: "The council is delighted with this fantastic new play park and the local community seems to be enjoying it too, as it continues to be busy throughout the day.

"Outdoor play is so important for children and this new facility provides a great community space for them to come together, be active and, most importantly, have fun.

"This investment shows the commitment the council has to upgrading as many play areas as possible for the benefit of our young people, both now and for years to come."

The play area has a wide variety of new equipment laid on an all-weather surface and includes various swings, two multi-play units, somersault bars, a roundabout and a pony-themed see-saw.

There is also plenty to keep younger kids busy including a spinning cup, a couple of 'springies' and a climbing unit.

In addition, there are two new units which are the first of their kind to be installed in Scotland - a rocket roller spinner and a wave stepper.

There are also various sensory panels and a sensory totem pole as well as a couple of new benches to complete the works.

The new facility is the latest in a series of park upgrades that have taken place this year and replaces the original play park installed in 2006.
