A Scottish ice hockey team is launching a new charity to promote healthy living.
The Glasgow Clan's Ice Futures Charity is set to encourage people of all ages to engage in ice-based activities, highlighting their physical and mental health benefits.
The charity will also promote the advantages of exercise and good nutrition.
The club's managing director, Gareth Chalmers, said: "The charity's focus will be on the introduction and participation of ice hockey and other ice activities to everyone, promoting a healthy lifestyle through exercise and nutrition.
"It will give all age groups opportunities to take to the ice, supporting our community outreach programme with local schools and youth groups, as well as our new Clan Academy setup as we look to develop the next generation of Clan players."
The Glasgow Clan Ice Futures Charity is officially registered with The Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), under registration number SCO53637.
The initiative is now part of the club's community outreach programme and is fully backed by the Glasgow Clan club.
He said: "We have had the ambition to make this a reality for a number of years and are now in a position to drive it forward along with the club’s wider aspirations.
"The club is fully behind this initiative and we’ll give it our full support as our official charity partner.
"I’d like to thank Kevin McCoskrie for driving the project forward and making it a reality, while also thanking the board of trustees for their support in the launch of the new charity."
