UPDATE HERE.

A person has been hit by a train on a busy Glasgow railway line.

We reported how emergency service crews are currently dealing with an incident between Airdrie in North Lanarkshire and Carntyne in Glasgow's East End.

Now, National Rail have revealed a person has been struck by a train between the two stations.

Due to this, they have said all lines between the stations are currently closed whilst 999 crews deal with the incident.

Meanwhile, ScotRail said services running through this area are subject to delays, cancellation, or revision.

The rail firm said they are working closely with emergency teams. Meanwhile, Network Rail have said they are also assisting 999 crews with the incident. 

They have said ScotRail services are unable to run currently between Coatbridge Sunnyside and Easterhouse.

A National Rail spokesperson said: "A person has been hit by a train between Airdrie and Carntyne.

"Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed.

"Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or diverted until approximately 12pm.

"To assist you with your journey, you can use your ticket to travel on ScotRail services via any reasonable route at no extra cost.

"If you have had to drive to another station your ticket will be valid to collect your car on your return journey. Speak to a member of staff to validate your ticket.

"If you've been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to. You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat."

 

 

A spokesperson for ScotRail added: "Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Airdrie and Carntyne.

"We’re working closely with them during this time and will keep you updated. Services running through this area are subject to delay, cancellation or revision."

 

 

Meanwhile, a Network Rail spokesperson said: "We’re assisting the emergency services who are dealing with an incident between Coatbridge Sunnyside and Easterhouse.

"ScotRail services aren’t able to run in either direction for now. We’ll share more info as soon as we can."

We have contacted the British Transport Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service for comment.
