THERE is a pattern of 'smash and grab' thefts taking place across Glasgow, police say.
Speaking at the Garnethill Community Council meeting on Monday, November 11, which the Glasgow Times attended, Inspector Jon Watters said the city is "brazen" with people smashing windows with bricks and "grabbing what they can".
The items that have been stolen include tip jars and tills, with two tills having been stolen from city centre businesses on the weekend of November 8-10 alone.

It comes amid a rise in shoplifting incidents in Glasgow, with Insp Watters revealing that in the city centre there has been a 60% increase in the last year.
We previously reported across the whole city recorded retail crime rose by 37% from 2022/23 to 2023/24.
At just over halfway through the financial year figures recorded since April 1 can’t yet be compared but police are noting a similar percentage increase so far.
