PLANS have been submitted to build accommodation for more than 600 students in Finnieston.
In February plans were approved by Glasgow City Council for a car showroom to be demolished and replaced by almost 400 flats, shops and other businesses on a site bounded by Minerva Street, West Greenhill Place and Finnieston Street behind Lidl supermarket.
However, plans have now been proposed for the development to include purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA).

We previously reported 394 homes were to built in two blocks including studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and maisonettes with their own front doors with the development rising between four and 12 storeys.
The plans from Keltbray Developments Ltd faced 38 objections over the height, lack of social housing, risk of overshadowing and loss of daylight among other issues.
New plans have been submitted for the site to become a mixed use development with 161 homes in block A including studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments and maisonettes.

They say this would be along with PBSA for 623 students in studios, clusters and maisonettes in block B.
Residents would have access to private amenity space across podiums, roof space, balconies and internal rooms including shared dining rooms, work spaces, cinema rooms, greenhouses and allotments.
There would be space for 554 covered and secure bike parking spaces with 31 car parking spaces provided under the podium for block A, serving the residential unit.
There would be no car parking for the PBSA block.
Developers say the plans have been altered "due to the changing market in Glasgow".
The pre-application consultation report summarises residents responses as being in favour of the site being developed though there is concern about an oversaturation of student accommodation in the area with more "quality family homes" preferred.
The target date for a decision to be made on the plans is Monday, March 10, 2025.
