Dogs Trust Glasgow is in search of a new home for a seven-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Jasper this Christmas.

The animal shelter is currently looking after 58 dogs, including Jasper, and is hoping to find homes for as many as possible before Christmas.

Jasper is described as a "very intelligent boy with a sweet nature."

He loves playing with toys and learning new tricks, and is particularly fond of his tennis ball.

Jasper needs to be the only pet in his new home and could live with children aged 16 and over.

Claire Cairney, assistant manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, said: “Jasper is a wonderful lad who enjoys playing, is eager to learn and loves a snuggle with his favourite people.

"While he can be a little worried in new situations or by new people, once the bond has been made, you will see his affectionate side.

This plea comes as Dogs Trust has received more than 32,000 handover requests so far this year.

Despite this, the charity has found homes for more than 6,000 dogs across the UK so far in 2024.

Claire added: "Welcoming a dog into your home is a wonderful experience, but it requires commitment, both in terms of time and money.

"We work closely with prospective adopters to ensure they’re fully prepared to welcome one of our dogs into their home, and our team carefully matches each dog with a family and home that suits them best."
