A teenager threatened to ‘murder’ police and ‘rape’ their families in an ‘appalling’ tirade that went on for more than two hours.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to three charges.

He admitted to resisting, obstructing, or hindering two police officers, assaulting an officer, and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

The court heard that cops were on patrol at Ibrox Stadium at 7.45pm on April 4, 2024 – Rangers played Celtic at home on this date - when a security guard directed them towards the boy.

It was not revealed why police were directed to the youngster.

He was placed in handcuffs and began to resist violently flailing his arms and kicking out to try and break free.

Police could not caution the teenager at the time due to his behaviour.

More officers came to help move him to a van and whilst doing so he spat at an officer with the spittle landing on the chest of his body armour.

He was taken to Govan police station where he became verbally abusive in the holding cell stating “I’ll stab your whole family you m***o”, “I’ll slit your families throats you f*****g s*****c”, and “I’ll f*****g murder you, wait until I am out these cuffs”.

“He continued to say “I’ll rape your family”, “you f*****g n****r c***s”, and “I hope you die of cancer you fat b***h”.

The youngster continued to shout things of a similar nature at all officers and refused to calm down.

This went on for more than two hours during which he was restrained several times.

His lawyer told the court that his client had “lost control”.

The defence solicitor said: “There was a lack of maturity. He takes full responsibility and he accepts that the conduct was appalling.

“The report does say there was an element of intoxication and given his age he is rather inexperienced in alcohol consumption which played a major factor in this.

“It got to a point where his anger built up and he lost control. There is a suggestion to remit this case to the children’s hearing system.”

Sheriff Simone Sweeney remitted the case to the Children’s Panel and removed his curfew which was part of his bail conditions.
