AN American fast food giant has taken steps towards opening in Glasgow city centre.
Wendy's has submitted plans to Glasgow City Council to open its first Scottish location at 139 Sauchiehall Street.
Established in 1969, the brand is the world's third largest hamburger fast-food chain after McDonald's and Burger King and previously operated in the UK between the late 1970s and 1990s, before returning in 2021.

Wendy's has submitted plan to add their signage to the entrance doors and have a 70-inch Samsung display screen mounted behind the existing window.
The existed cladding on the B-listed building would be repainted in grey on the ground floor.
The building was originally designed by architect John Keppie in 1904 as part of the Edwardian Baroque era and proposals say the project would "honour the building's historical identity while providing a modern dining experience".

The unit was previously occupied by a Co-op and Bargain Store.
The plans reveal there would be seating and the kitchen on the ground floor while the basement would have staff and storage rooms.
A decision is expected to be made on the plans by Friday, January 17.
