Lorient goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo has admitted he was "very sad" not to seal a transfer switch in the summer with Celtic an interested club.
The Swiss international has revealed he had a plethora of options on the table but potential fees or limited game-time assurances scuppered transfer dealings.
Celtic were credited with an interest in Mvogo in the summer before landing Kasper Schmeichel.
Quizzed on failed moves to Celtic, Parma and Augsburg Mvogo told Blick: "I'll be honest, I was very sad about how things went. It wasn't an easy time.
"I wanted to leave Lorient after relegation so that I could continue to compete and prove myself at the highest possible level. I knew that it could be problematic if I played in the second division.
"Yes, there were a lot of offers. They all came relatively early.

"At that point I wanted to take my time with the decision. I couldn't have imagined how difficult the market would be during the summer.
"Many clubs wanted free goalkeepers or ones that could be loaned out. But I had a contract with Lorient, which meant a transfer fee would have been due."
Mvogo also had interest from Premier League giants Manchester United in the summer with Erik ten Hag thought to be interested in the goalkeeper as a back-up option.
The Swiss international, though, was not keen on a move to become a No2 at any club.
"Correct, Manchester United for example. But that wasn't an option for me," he said.
"I'm not happy if I can't be on the pitch. I want to enjoy my time on the pitch right now, together with fans and teammates. I want to play for titles and ideally win them too."
