TWO popular Christmas light switch-on events have been cancelled due to Storm Bert.
The events were meant to take place in Rutherglen on Saturday and Cambuslang on Sunday with a day of festivities planned for each.
However, due to heavy snow amid Storm Bert, the events have been cancelled to protect the safety of staff and attendees.
A statement published on South Lanarkshire Council's Facebook page reads: "The weekend Christmas light switch-on events at Rutherglen and Cambuslang have been cancelled because of adverse weather warnings.
"This is to help protect the safety of those setting up, and travelling to, the events."
