A MAN who chased another with a large kitchen knife later told cops “I didn’t know what I did was wrong”.

Valentine Ejihkeme, 56, of Blackhill, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to having an offensive weapon in a public place.

The court heard that at 6pm on December 30, 2023, Ejihkeme was at work on Dundas Street in Glasgow city centre.

At this time, a man sitting outside in his vehicle saw Ejihkeme chase an unknown man with a large silver kitchen knife.

The man recorded the incident on his phone and then reported it to police.

Officers arrived later that day and told Ejihkeme he was under arrest to which he replied “I was stupid. I didn’t know what I did was wrong.”

The knife was recovered.

Ejihkeme’s lawyer told the court that his client apologised for his behaviour.

The defence solicitor said: “He accepts responsibility and regrets his actions. It appears he now realises the impact his actions could have had and the concern they would cause.

“He was at work at the time and has a background of attending at the street. He understands he has to be punished.”

Sheriff Simone Sweeney deferred sentencing to February.
