A drunk man who was asked to stop swearing by his neighbours went on to make threats stating “I’ll get the f*****g jail tonight”.
Guramarit Singh, 41, of Croftfoot, was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
The court heard that at 8pm on October 29, two of Singh’s neighbours returned home and noticed him smoking in the communal garden.
As the neighbours were bringing shopping in from their vehicle they noticed Singh was drunk and holding a can of beer.
They heard him swearing and asked him to mind his language as kids could hear him.
The neighbours went into their home but could still hear a raised voice. They went into their living room and saw Singh in the back garden making a call.
He stated: “Bring all the f*****g boys over now, don’t bring the guns. I’ll get the f*****g jail tonight.”
The neighbours contacted police as they felt fearful for their safety.

Officers attended and arrested Singh to which he made no reply. He was taken to Cathcart police station.
Singh’s lawyer told the court that his client was trying to be ‘humorous’.
The defence solicitor said: “Clearly the comments on the face of it are serious and alarming. Mr Singh, who had consumed alcohol, was attempting to be humorous.
“He clearly negated the consequences that those comments might have. He accepts at that time of day he should have dealt with the issue differently and allowed any issues to pass by leaving it at the request to change his language.
“He was taken into custody at that time. He is not disputing that it is a serious matter and the distress it caused to the neighbours.
“He is keen to maintain his liberty.”
Sheriff Simone Sweeney placed Singh on a community payback order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 12 months of social work supervision.
