In case you weren’t already aware of this, we have absolute geniuses in charge at Westminster.
All over the country, people have been worried sick, literally in some cases, about the rocketing costs of their heating and hot water at home.
Well, that’s not strictly true because MPs, when they are staying away from home in London, don’t have to pay for bills like gas and electricity and that sort of thing.
No, they get to charge it to us. Nice work and all that.

But while people are sitting in the cold because heating your home to keep them warm enough will cost way more than it did last winter.
But it’s okay because the experts at Downing Street have you covered, move over Martin Lewis there’s a new Money Saving Sheriff in town.
Grant Shapps, the energy secretary, has the answer to your problems.
This week he gave out the genius advice to turn down the boiler flow temperature on your central heating. Gee thanks Grant, guess that’s why you’re the energy secretary, huh!
Shapps said it doesn’t affect the temperature of your home just the temperature of the water flowing to the radiators.
Does Shapps really think people have not been looking into every possible way of saving money on their bills by now and haven’t come across this one?
Everyone has been googling like crazy, ways of saving money on gas, electricity, food, petrol and everything that has gone up in price
And it is not as simple as Shapps suggests. It will take longer to heat rooms to the desired temperature and might not get as hot as you want.
But I’m as much an expert on boilers as Shapps so it’s best to get advice from qualified people, who know what’s best.

While Shapps is trying to reassure people his top tip won’t affect the temperature of the house his boss has been giving out exactly that advice.
Not so long ago Rishi Sunak, the latest Prime Minister, said people should turn down the heating to save money.
I am willing to bet, that Rishi and Akshata are not having to contemplate turning down the heating in the Downing Street flat.
Nor are they thinking about turning down the heating in their £6million London mansion.
Nor are they thinking about turning down the heating in their Kensington flat, or their Yorkshire country mansion, complete with gym and swimming pool
Come in the water’s lovely.
How about their home in California? Is Rishi paying someone right now to go around turning all the radiators down to mark three.
I doubt it. In fact, I am willing to bet that the Sunak/Murty household can probably still afford Lurpak.
But everyone else, whether you’re in a nice semi-detached home or villa that you are worried about the cost of your mortgage going up or in a flat rented from a housing association or a private let worried about what level of rent rise your landlord is going to force on you in April, don’t worry.
Because Rishi and Grant have got you covered.
Talk about ‘let them eat cake’.
Being lectured about money-saving advice from these Government ministers is rich, a bit themselves really.

Instead of getting a grip on the big energy providers and the energy suppliers, who are making an obscene amount of profit out of this crisis Shapps and Sunak, with their comments are putting the responsibility on people who are struggling.
With Sunak’s Chancellor, remind who it is this month, oh yes Jeremy Hunt, (correct at the time of writing) telling us that the help with energy bills will run out after April and Ofgem telling us that the cap will probably have to rise before it comes down people are looking ahead to next year with dread.
People want action from the government. Action that will bring down the cost of energy so that we don’t have to rely on subsidies from the government.
Subsidies they will claw back in the future anyway.
Action that means that people will not be looking at wiping out savings they have built up over years just to pay bills and bolster the profits of BP, Shell or Haliburton.
Money flowing from the rapidly emptying bank accounts of working people and going to feed the ever-burgeoning wealth of energy giant chief execs.
You could be forgiven for thinking it is a form of state-sponsored robbery.
A perverse redistribution of wealth in reverse if you like.
Let’s hope everyone gets through this winter intact. And if we do it will be no thanks to the advice coming from Rishi Sunak and Grant Shapps.
That’s the only hot air we are likely to get this winter.
