One of the most “underrated” iPhone features has left Apple users feeling “powerful” as a tutorial has resurfaced on social media.
In September 2022, Twitter account @ValaAfshar posted a video showing people how to scan and sign a document using their iPhone.
However, while many seem to have heard of the not-so-new addition to the software, an overwhelming majority have only just discovered it.

Twitter has been swarmed with many accounts expressing their shock at the document signing feature, even though it’s technically not a new update.
@ValaAfshar’s video which explains the process currently has 213k likes and more than 30k retweets.
This account said: “One of the best underrated features for iPhone,” while another added: “my non iOS users co-workers were so amazed when i did this at work i felt so powerful”
Someone who needed this “life-changing app” wrote: “this would’ve been very handy like a month ago when i was signing countless mortgage documents.”
Meanwhile, those using other apps which some require payments for, commented: “Now I didn’t know you could sign. Lemme delete docusign.”
“So I was paying for these sign documents apps and apple been giving it to me for free.”

This person suggested: “I swear iPhones have 500+ secret features.”
“I’ll never forget when my HR manager helped me unlock this level of how to use an iPhone…she’s a real one,” posted a user who connected with their boss over the feature.
Meanwhile, another complained:" I’ve wasted so much money on printing and scanning fees."
How to scan and sign a document on your iPhone
It couldn't be any simpler if you have never scanned and signed a document using only your iPhone.
Apple suggests following these steps:
To scan
- Open Notes and select a note or create a new one.
- Tap the Camera button then tap Scan Documents.
- Place your document in view of the camera.
- If your device is in Auto mode, your document will automatically scan. If you need to capture a scan manually, tap the Shutter button or press one of the Volume buttons. Then drag the corners to adjust the scan to fit the page, then tap Keep Scan.
- Tap Save or add additional scans to the document.
To sign
- Open Notes, then tap the document in the note.
- Tap the Share button then tap Markup.
- Tap the Add button, then tap Signature and add a saved signature or create a new signature. Then you can adjust the size of the signature box and place it wherever you want on the document.
- Tap Done.
