BBC drama Sherwood is back with series two this month as viewers anticipate what's next for the former mining town.
The first series aired in 2022 and was well-received gaining a 100% score on tv and film review site Rotten Tomatoes.
The detective drama was created and written by James Graham who shared that fans of Sherwood can expect a "brand-new story which explores other sides of the community that you saw in series one and it branches into new territory."
Series two of Sherwood sees David Morrissey return as DCS Ian St Clair, Morrissey has appeared in many hit films and shows including The Long Shadow, The Walking Deam, The Missing, The Other Boleyn Girl and the new series Daddy Issues.
Also returning is Lesley Manville who plays Julie Jackson, the award-winning actress has also starred in many acclaimed and award-winning films and shows including Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, Phantom Thread, Magpie Murders, The Crown, World on Fire and Harlots.

What is the plot of series 2 of Sherwood?
The newest series of BBC's Sherwood is set in the modern day and follows two families who have found themselves entangled with the Sparrows, a group who was involved in the miner's strike of the 80s that led to the division of the town.
A sudden murder in the town shocks locals and sees DCS Ian St Clair investigate as it begins to threaten the reignite historic turf wars that plagued the area.

Series two of Sherwood sees some new faces including David Harewood who has appeared in the likes of Supergirl, The Night Manager, Blood Diamond, Homeland, The Acolyte, The Vice and more.
Also appearing is Robert Lindsay, best known for his role in My Family, Hornblower and Citizen Smith.
How to watch Sherwood
The new series of Sherwood will start on Sunday, August 25 at 9pm on BBC One, the following episode will air on Monday, August 26.
The six-part series will then air weekly on both days and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
