Today we announced plans to demolish Glasgow Buchanan Galleries as part of the transformation of the city centre.
The proposal is to “replace” the shopping mall with a multi-purpose shopping, residential and office quarter.
It would see new public squares created, new streets with street-level entry to shops and Buchanan Street opened up through to Killermont Street and Buchanan Bus Station.
The Royal Concert Hall would not be affected by any plan.

In June, 2006, software analyst John Mackay, 25, sat in a plastic bubble in Buchanan Galleries in a bid to attract the woman of his dreams through Match.com.
Security had to hold back crowds of screaming teenagers when George Sampson and Flawless, of Britain’s Got Talent, performed in the centre.
The Scottish Cup first round draw was held at the Galleries in August 2011 with Celtic’s Scott Brown, SFA president Campbell Ogilvie and Kristof Fahy of William Hill.
Fashion guru Gok Wan popped in to the mall ahead of his show, How To Look Good Naked, which was coming to the SEC in 2007, and posed with a bunch of mannequins.
When the stars of hit vampire series Twilight came to Glasgow in October 2012, its stars ended up almost covered in Irn Bru. Nikki Reed and Kellan Lutz (who played Rosalie Hale and Emmett Cullen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2) were given the famous fizzy drink and Walkers shortbread by Evening Times competition winners Amy Graham and Lauren Kergan, but as the Hollywood duo opened it, it exploded, and ended up all over the place.
Dragon’s Den star and entrepreneur Theo Paphitis opened the UK’s first Boux Avenue lingerie store at the Galleries in April 2011.
