A PENSIONER is accused of killing a woman in a road accident.

John Whiteside, 78, is said to have ploughed into Linda Gallagher while driving in Shettleston, Glasgow on March 10 2020.

It is claimed he failed to spot the 60 year-old at a pedestrian crossing.

Prosecutors allege the OAP did not take evasive action or apply his brakes.

The indictment states he hit the woman, who ended up on the bonnet of the car before falling to the ground.

Whiteside then allegedly continued driving and went over Linda's body.

She is said to have been left so severely hurt that she passed away.

The case called this week at the High Court in Glasgow.

Whiteside's legal team pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

Lord Arthurson set a trial due to begin in November this year.

Whiteside - who is marked as living in the same street where the incident occurred - remains on bail.
