AN extension has been deliberately set alight in a wilful fire-raising incident in Renfrew.

The under-construction building in the Ard Road area was targeted around 11pm on Monday, March 28.

The Glasgow Times previously reported police were investigating a suspected wilful fire-raising incident at Kirklandneuk Primary School earlier this week.

Two fire engines were called to the school around 10.38pm on Monday and a small fire was found at the under-construction extension.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) extinguished the blaze but police say considerable damage was caused by the fire.

Officers are now appealing for information.

Detective Constable Gordon Hunt said: "Fortunately no one was injured but this kind of wilful fire-raising will not be tolerated.

"I am asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to get in touch.

"If you were driving and have dash-cam footage that could assist with our enquiries then I would also urge you to contact us."
