A STOLEN car was found set alight on a Cumbernauld street last night.
Fire crews were called to Old Glasgow Road around 10.37pm after the blaze was reported.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent one appliance to tackle the fire after the car was found engulfed in flames.
Officers confirmed the vehicle had previously been reported stolen from the area and the fire is being treated as deliberate.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a car on fire on Old Glasgow Road, Cumbernauld, around 10.55pm on Thursday, March 31.
"The car had previously been reported stolen from the local area.
"The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
AN SFRS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 10.37pm on Thursday, March 31 to attend a vehicle fire on Old Glasgow Road in Cumbernauld.
"One appliance was sent to the scene and the car was found well alight.
"Fire crews left the scene at 11.25pm."
