A GROUP of barbers are set to hold a 24-hour Haircut Marathon to raise money for a cancer charity.

Barbers at Revival Room in Rutherglen will take part in the event next month to raise vital funds for Beatson Cancer Charity

Co-owners David Murray and Jordan Rae previously did a 24-hour Haircut Marathon in 2019 for the charity after a client was diagnosed with cancer.

David said: "It’s really good for the Beatson charity that we’re doing it for.

"We did it for them last time because one of our clients had cancer and since then he beat that so it’s good to follow on from that and he’ll be there as well.

"The boy we did it for initially, Jordan and I at the time both cut his hair and he’s not in the Beatson anymore but members of our family have both been in the Beatson so it touches both of us."

Last time, David and Jordan managed to raise more than £4260 for the charity but David is keen to beat that record.

He said: "Last time we did it managed to raise that amount and there are twice the amount of barbers doing it this time so I would really like it if we hit the £10k mark.

"My personal target is £10k but a realistic target is £5k."

As well as 24-hours of cutting hair, there will also be a raffle, games, a DJ and food and drink throughout the day and night.

David said: "We only announced it last week and I’d say we have £1000 worth of donations for the raffle because we’ve had people donating from their businesses, we’ve had cut and blow drys, a girl donated lip filler and we’ve got the DJ, he’s doing it for free.

"At the minute, Jordan is fully booked for the day, the rest of the staff aren’t fully booked but all we would do is just ask people to contact our page directly and we would book them into a slot that suits them.

"Obviously the hardest times to fill are the ones from 12 at night right through to eight in the morning but as far as I’m aware quite a few have been taken."

The event will run from 8am on Monday, May 16 until 8am on Tuesday, May 17 and all money raised will go to Beatson Cancer Charity.
