A GLASGOW pub was forced to close early tonight due to a "strong smell of gas".
Staff at the Waterloo on Argyle Street announced that they had closed and apologised to customers for the decision.
They said that they could identify "a strong smell of gas" and became concerned for those in the building.
They confirmed that the gas board came to carry out an inspection but did not detect any issues.

On a social media post, they said: "We must apologise to our customers tonight for closing early.
"There was a strong smell of gas in the pub, and our utmost concern is for our customers' safety so that’s why we closed.
"Fortunately when the gas board did their inspection they found nothing wrong with our system.
"Apologies again, Waterloo Bar."
Customers showed their understanding and support, with one commenting: "Customers and safety first, as always."
Another said: "Better safe than sorry."
