AFTER nearly 100 years as the centre point of one of Glasgow's busiest shopping streets, Marks and Spencer has closed its doors for the final time.
Glaswegians recognise and love the store, which has stood proudly in Sauchiehall Street since its opening on November 29, 1935.
Marks and Spencer provided the ultimate shopping experience, with food, clothing, homeware, gifts and more all within one glamorous Art Deco fronted building.
It was just one of the many department stores that lined the street, including nearby Watt Brothers, which closed in 2019.
Marks and Spencer bosses previously confirmed the reason for the closure as "changing shopping habits".
On April 30, the shutters sealed off the empty store at around 1pm.
Later in the afternoon, shoppers and passers-by looked in at the racks of clothes from behind the locked doors.
