A MAN says he was hit on the head with a "breezeblock" after he was "ambushed" by a group of youths.
Kevin McDermott posted on Twitter that he was attacked while riding his scooter along Kelvin Walkway yesterday afternoon.
The singer said he was hit "square on the head" when a breezeblock was "lobbed" at him after he found the pathway blocked by a branch.
He says he would be dead if he had not been wearing his hat.
Been ambushed on my scooter. Awaiting Police. Branch dragged across the path then breezeblock lobbed down. Hit square on the head. Hat my hat on. Dead otherwise. No doubt. pic.twitter.com/E13eTfqYQ2

Mr McDermott tweeted: "Been ambushed on my scooter.
"Awaiting Police.
"Branch dragged across the path then breezeblock lobbed down.
"Hit square on the head.
"Had my hat on.
"Dead otherwise.

In further tweets, Mr McDermott said there were four "neds" staking out walkers and cyclists, and that while he waited for police they came back in what he believes was an attempt to steal his scooter.
It is understood his scooter was not stolen during the incident.
Officers confirmed they were called to Kelvin Walkway at around 3.30pm yesterday following reports that a 60-year-old man had been assaulted by a group of youths.
