“THE Kate Bush experience of your dreams is finally here.”

And it definitely is for the Glasgow fans of the chart-topping singer.

The ladies from Baby Bushka, the San Diego act recreating the magic of Kate Bush, are coming to the city for a fabulous set at the Centre for Contemporary Arts next month.

Lead vocalist Natasha Kozaily and her seven fellow band members are looking forward to meet the legendary Glasgow crowds again, after playing at Mono in 2018, during their first UK tour.

“Oh, my gosh, I think Scotland was our favourite place that we visited,” said Natasha. “It was so beautiful, we just loved it.”

Besides a little mishap with a flat tyre, Glasgow is remembered for its friendly people and flourishing music scene.

“I remember lot of people around helping and in the end it was just really fun.

“The venue was so supportive and colourful and just festive. It was an amazing experience and we are all very excited to come back.”

Baby Bushka has been enchanting audiences since 2017, when Natasha fell in love with the music and figure of Kate Bush.

“I had heard of Kate Bush, never really gave her music enough attention,” she said. 

“People kept telling me I should listen to her or that I sounded like her when I did my own music, so that summer I did and I just fell in love.

“I went down a massive Kate Bush wormhole on YouTube I just became totally obsessed.”

After realising the magnitude of the singer’s popularity, Nathasha gathered some fellow female musicians for a “Kate Bush dance party” at a club in San Diego.

“We rehearsed for, I think two months, and put together a show and then it happened.

“I think we were all shocked about how many people came out. It was packed. And people were ecstatic.

“They drove down from LA, Kate Bush fans from all generations, and people we'd never met before.

“And we were just like, 'oh my god, what have we done?'.”

That club night was the start of Baby Bushka, an eight-woman embodiment of the spirit of Kate Bush with their two-act show incorporating music, singing, dancing and even drama.

The band now includes three main vocalists and dancers, a keyboardist, a violinist, a drummer, a bass player and a guitarist - but one of the features is that every “Bush” gets to sing a lead on one of the songs, along with three to six part vocal harmonies.

“It’s more than a journey through Kate Bush’s discography,” added Natasha.

“I think our interpretations and the way that we bring the songs to life are just very visual and fun and sincere, but also, there's humour and drama.

“There's two acts and we kind of lead the audience through different song arcs. There's lots of dancing, it's just a beautiful, transformative journey.

“It's hard to describe, but it'll make you laugh, it'll bring you to tears and it'll make you dance.”
