NINE thousand counterfeit cigarettes have been found by a sniffer dog in shops in Glasgow.
Boo the Detection Dog sniffed out the illegal fags during a joint operation with Glasgow City Council, Police Scotland, Trading Standards and HMRC.
The operation saw the specialist teams search four shops in the city.
Around three and a half kilograms of hand-rolling tobacco was also uncovered in the raids.

As the Glasgow Times previously reported, counterfeit cigarettes tend to be traded in distinctive packaging from Eastern European countries, as cigarettes and tobacco are cheaper in there.
Boo is the only tobacco-trained detection dog in Glasgow and is specially trained.
She previously joined 14 inspections between July and September which saw the seizure of 200,000 fags and 19.5 kilograms of illicit tobacco.
