A NEW restaurant could be built in the place of the former Rangers store in Glasgow.
The store, which used to occupy the space at 30 St Enoch Square, has been marked for sale or rent for months.
Now an application has been submitted to Glasgow City Council by Sava Estates to transform the empty space into a 'quality restaurant' covering both ground and basement floors.
This would mean a change of use from class 1 (retail) to class 3 (restaurant).
Planning documents read: "The proposed development represents a wonderful opportunity to deliver a quality eating experience in the well known Square and in the process energise this part of the city centre and contribute to the range and variety of services, activities and experiences which the city can offer."

It is anticipated that the restaurant's opening hours will be from 10am to midnight, seven days a week.
The document called the Square "the heart of the city centre" with "great potential to be a dynamic and vibrant space."
The property is currently on Rightmove for sale or rent by TSA Property Consultants Ltd.
