TICKETS will go on sale today for the World Pipe Band Championships as it returns to Glasgow Green this Summer.

The unforgettable event, which has been held in the city every year since 1986, attracts competitors and spectators from all over the world as pipe bands compete to be recognised as the best in the world. 

This year, the championships are set to take place on Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13 for the first time since the summer of 2019.

Kevin Reilly, chairman of The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, said: "The World Pipe Band Championships are the very peak of Pipe Band competition and are always keenly contested.

"Across both days of the championships, pipers and drummers who have spent months rehearsing, go for the top prizes in thrilling tests of a band’s ability to perform in front of thousands.

"The result is a series of competitions which live on in the memories of everyone who sees and hears them."

Chair of Glasgow Life, bailie Annette Christie, said: "The World Pipe Band Championships have been a fundamental part of Glasgow’s summer events and festivals for a generation, supporting our visitor economy by bringing musicians, supporters and spectators to Scotland from around the world.

"Along with Piping Live! which is hosted in Glasgow at the same time, there is nowhere better for fans of piping and great music this August."

The World Pipe Band Championships are the pinnacle of competitive Pipe Band competition and are organised on behalf of The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association by Glasgow Life. 

They take place at the same time as Piping Live! which runs from Friday, August 6 until Sunday, August 14.
