Heartbroken fans have taken to social media to share their despair after the Red Hot Chili Peppers postponed their Glasgow gig this morning.

The American outfit had been due to play at Bellahouston Park tonight as part of their 2022 World Tour, but instead called the show off just hours before they hit the stage 'due to illness'.

The last-minute move has left hundreds of fans at a loss as to what to do next with some having travelled to the city to see the band take the stage.

One Twitter user said: "Just landed in Glasgow to see Red Hot Chilli Peppers to find out they've cancelled the gig tonight what should I do instead please?

"I am distraught."

Tom Cotterill, from Portsmouth has been waiting a decade to see the Chili Peppers live and flew to Glasgow especially for the gig yesterday.

Speaking with the Glasgow Times directly the 33-year-old said: ‘This is a huge kick in the teeth. My friend, Dan found out about the cancellation minutes after his plane landed at Glasgow then he called me.

‘When I heard about it, my heart just sank. I’d been looking forward to this for months.

‘It wouldn’t have been so bad if the gig was more local to us. But we have literally travelled hundreds of miles from the other side of the country to see them.

‘Now we’re both at a loss of what to do and where to go in Glasgow. It’s just massively heartbreaking.’

Tom added: ‘I hope the band get better soon.’
