A teenage driver is in hospital following a 'serious' road crash in Renfrewshire.
Just before 6 pm on Wednesday, the 19-year-old male Smart Plus driver was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Vectra on a road between Lochwinnoch and Kilbirnie.
They were later rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where they remain now.
The driver of the Vauxhall Vectra received treatment at Royal Alexandra Hospital.
The stretch of the A760 remained shut for three hours as police carried out enquiries.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses of the crash who might be able to assist them in their investigations.
Police Sergeant Chris Hoggans of the Road Policing Unit said: “One of the vehicles involved in the collision was a distinctive bright green colour.
"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.
“I would like to thank members of the public for their patience while we carried out our investigation into this serious crash.
“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2532 of Wednesday, July 6, 2022.”
