A man has been left injured following a 'targeted attack' in East Kilbride yesterday.
The 59-year-old was within his home in Chatham when three men entered the property at around 6pm.
The men are then said to have assaulted him, causing injury to his head, hands and leg.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police say that they have very little information about the three suspected attackers, but believe one man was white, around 6ft tall and spoke with a local accent.
Officers have since been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are gathering CCTV footage to determine the circumstances of the 'serious' assault.
Detective inspector Jamie Campbell said: “The motive for this attack is not known, however, we do believe this was a targeted attack.
"I am asking people in the local area to think back to last night, did you see three men hanging around, did you notice anything odd or suspicious? If you have any information about this incident, please contact us.
"In particular, if any motorists with dashcams were in the area, please check your footage as it could have captured something which would assist our enquiries.
"Any small detail could prove significant, so please do pass it on.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2883 of July 7, 2022. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give information anonymously.
