Tributes have been paid to a talented former Partick Thistle and Ross County player who has died at 35 years old.
Midfielder Adam Strachan was just 16 years old when he made his Partick debut in 2004 which saw him named man of the match against Livingston.
After four years and over 70 appearances for the Jags, Strachan moved to Ross County in 2008 and later played for several different clubs including Arbroath, Albion Rovers, Dumbarton and Stenhousemuir.
He then took to Junior Football with three years spent at Lowland League club East Kilbride as well as stints for Glenafton Athletic and BSC Glasgow.
During a league game with BSC against Whitehill Welfare he suffered a serious ankle injury which is thought to have ended his football career.
The circumstances surrounding Strachan’s death are not yet known.
Following the news of his passing yesterday former club bosses and teammates have been sharing heartfelt tributes on social media.
Partick Thistle said: “Everyone at Partick Thistle Football Club is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of our former player, Adam Strachan, at the age of 35.
“The thoughts of everyone connected with Partick Thistle FC are with Adam and his family at this dreadfully sad time.”
Ross County said: “Ross County are sad to learn of the passing of former player Adam Strachan. Adam spent two seasons in Dingwall making over 50 appearances. Our thoughts are with Adam’s family, friends and loved ones at this time “
Former East Kilbride teammate Sean Winter paid his respects on Twitter saying: “Can’t believe the news I’m hearing about Adam Strachan. Absolutely gutted at this. The guy was seriously misunderstood and one of the best players I ever played with".
Ex-Falkirk defender Thomas Scobbie remembered Strachan fondly saying: “Managed to have a few camps with Adam Strachan with the Scotland U19/21s.
"Guy had massive talent but an even bigger, infectious personality.
“Thoughts and prayers go out to Adams family and friends at this difficult time.”
Hundreds of Football fans have been sharing their own messages of support with many shocked to hear of his passing at such a young age.
One said: “Terrible news, far too young! Thoughts with the family and remembering his time at Thistle, boy could play.
Another added: “Boy had all the ability in the world. RIP Adam Strachan”.
